Spice Mobile Launches Dual Sim Handsets

Not sure whether to take a GSM connection from Airtel or Hutch or a CDMA one from Reliance and Tata Indicom. Now you can have both on the same phone. A Spice Mobile handset allows a user to use both GSM and CDMA networks, allowing the freedom to shift from one technology to the other. It has slots for two sims, one for CDMA and the other for GSM. While Reliance Communication is still finalising its dual handset launch, Spice Mobile has gone ahead and launched two handsets with dual sim capability.

Dual sim phones are increasingly becoming popular. A study done by Spice Mobile says that dual sim phones can capture almost 8-10 per cent of the present mobile market, putting the size of the dual sim phone market at almost five million phones annually. Dual sim phones not only allows you to use different technologies on the same phone it also allows you to have two separate numbers on the same phone and gives you the freedom to roam on either GSM or CDMA network. Spice Mobile is already in talks with GSM operators like Bharti and Hutch and also with Tata Indicom to bundle their handset with mobile connections and this means that Reliance Communication''s dual mobile strategy may soon be in for some tough competition from other operators as well.
