ITC Sees Profitable Strategy In MVNO

TRAI Chief Nripendra Misra may have some good news for not just ITC chairman Y C Deveshwar in India but miles away for the flamboyant Virgin chief Richard Branson as well. By deciding to look into the much awaited mobile virtual network operators (MVNO) norms for India, TRAI has laid ground for this international practice to find feet here in India also. MVNO essentially means a virtual network operator who does not own networks but buys minutes of usage (MoU) in bulk from operators, a service which it then retails under its own brand. For a company keen to get into the MVNO space it is the brand that makes all the difference, which it leverages most.
