Tata Power Company Ltd has declared the setting up of power generation facility at Haldia in West Bengal. The company said that unit 1 of 2 x 45 MW Phase of Haldia project was synchronised with the grid on April 2. The company had taken over the 2 X 45 MW IPP power plant from Hooghly Met Coke & Power Company Ltd (HMC), a 98 per cent subsidiary of Tata Steel Ltd. The plant will use coke oven gases to generate power, a part of which will be sold under a PPA to the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd and the remaining traded via Tata Power Trading Company Ltd.
